After a busy half term we thought we would share a roundup of our fun. Space has been a popular topic with all the children bringing something to the discussion. We started with George’s question of how could we get to space with no rocket? After much discussion, and rocket building, we decided that a rocket was actually the best way to get to space. Along the way we also learnt that stars are round not pointy, the moon is made of rock not cheese and some defining features of the different planets thanks to the Solar Planet Song (search it on Youtube if you can!) We have built rockets, wrote a song about Space Aliens and drawn a variety of aliens who seem to be hiding out in our school!
Oak Class Blog
Welcome to the blog for Oak Class, we hope it gives you an insight as to how we spend our days. My name is Sam Bond and I am the Early Years Leader at Snainton Nursery and Primary School. Our Early Years classroom has children aged from 2 up to 5, we believe they deserve to have the time to learn through play and develop their imagination in a hands on way. Staff join the children in their play to facilitate the storyline, scaffold where needed and extend learning as required. Next steps are dealt with instantly when it is relevant, instead of being added to the planning to be addressed at a later date. We think it leads to a class of independent, engaged and happy children.
